Dr. Williams, who was a Chief Resident and recipient of the Department’s David J. Kreis Outstanding Resident Award in his senior year, returned to join the faculty at Stony Brook in 2013 after serving four years as an active duty Emergency Medicine Physician at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital in North Carolina.  While stationed at the Naval Hospital, he served on the Graduate Medical Education Committee, served as the morbidity and mortality coordinator for the ER, and served as a Medical Director for both the Camp Lejeune Fire/EMS system and Onslow County Fire/EMS system.  He also served as a Shock Trauma Platoon physician with Combat Logistics Battalion 22 while deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit where he provided medical training and emergency care to 3,500 deployed Marines and Sailors aboard the USS Mesa Verde and USS Whidbey Island in support of Operation Unified Protector (Libya) and various other military exercises throughout the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf.
