Clarissa Bullitt, PhD

October 22, 2013 - Clinical Psychologist Clarissa Bullitt, PhD has joined the staff of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. She will spend three days a week in the Adult Outpatient Service and two days a week with the Consultation and Liaison Service, including a half day each week as the liaison to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. For the past five years, Dr. Bullitt has been the Training Director and Assistant Director of Counseling and Psychological Services on west campus.

Dr. Bullitt is a graduate of the Clinical Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University and completed an internship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. For two years she served as the Associate Training Director for Residency in Psychiatry at North General Hospital in Harlem, an affiliate of Mount Sinai Hospital. She was one of the last psychologists to hold such a position. At Stony Brook, she was responsible for overseeing the psychology internship program at the Counseling and Psychological Services center.

“Dr. Bullitt’s appointment represents another step toward our vision of integrating physical and behavioral health,” department administrator Kristie Golden said. “Because of her unique assignment, she will be able to create a bridge between inpatient medical care and our outpatient clinic service and to integrate behavioral health services into the pre- and post-partum care of patients in Obstetrics. Our long-term goal is to introduce behavioral health staff in as many areas of medical practice as possible.”
