March 25, 2015 - All six slots in the Department of Psychiatry Residency Training Program were filled on Match Day. Director of Residency Training, Constantine Ioannou, MD, described the new class as “a perfect fit for Stony Brook’s residency program.” They will begin their training on July 1, 2015.

Three of the new residents — Sean Alyeshmerni, DO, Jisoo Kim, DO and Jaclyn Chua, DO — were trained in osteopathic medicine. Drs. Alyeshmerni and Kim are graduates of Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL, while Dr. Chua graduated from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. Chetan Chauhan, MD is a graduate of New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Tahsin Hasan, MD is a graduate of St. George’s University in Grenada and Katherine Pan, MD graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science, a part of the State University of New York. Three of the first-year residents received their undergraduate degrees at Stony Brook University.

“All the members of our new class have solid clinical and research experience,” Dr. Ioannou said. “They expressed a strong interest in evidence-based treatment and a desire to participate in the dynamic transformation taking place within the department. I am confident that they will continue the tradition of academic excellence for which the department is known.”
