Volunteers Needed for Brain Imaging Research Study in Daily Cigarette Smoking

Cholinergic transmission abnormalities associated with smoking behavior in humans

Who we are looking for:

  • Ages 18-55
  • Daily use of nicotine by smoked route
  • In relatively good health, both body and mind
  • Negative urine toxicology (except for Cannabis)
  • Proficient in English

    To determine if you are eligible, you will first be asked a series of questions on the phone

  • Following this, if you are found to qualify, a team member will schedule a weekday for you to come in person for the first visit

Your participation:

  • This study can be completed within 3 visits
     
  •  Procedures involve the following:
    Confidential interviews
    A physical exam (with blood/urine collection & ECG)
    Surveys & questionnaires
    Cognitive testing and behavioral tasks
    1 MRI scan & 1 PET scan

Benefits & Compensation:

  • You will be compensated up to $340 if you are eligible and complete the study.
     
  • Other possible benefits include contributing to science that may lead to new substance use disorder therapies and receiving medical procedures- such as a physical exam, diagnostic evaluation, and brain imaging- at no cost to you.
