How do I set up my mail client for Inbound mail? The SMTP/IMAP mail settings for clients like Mozilla Thunderbird and MS Outlook are as follows:
The inbound server is portal.hsc.stonybrook.edu
Please use SSL (port 993) for inbound IMAP settings.
How do I set up my mail client for outbound mail? The SMTP/IMAP mail settings for mail clients like Mozilla Thunderbird and MS Outlook are as follows:
The outbound server is portal.hsc.stonybrook.edu
Please use TLS (always) and port 465 for outbound SMTP settings.
What can I do about Spam mail?Portal.hsc.stonybrook.edu e-mail system has a spam filter that 
updates about every 10 minutes and removes about 55% of all inbound e-mail as spam, with a 97% detection rate.  In other words, a small number of spam will get through.
