Body Donation Program
Many clinicians and researchers firmly believe that dissection remains the key to mastering human anatomy, and Stony Brook Renaissance School of Medicine has managed a successful body donation program that supports this teaching and training mission for over 40 years. With body donation, an individual decides to give to the medical profession the use of his or her body for dissection and research after death. Such a gift is an extraordinary act of generosity that supports the teaching and training of our future medical professionals. Whole body donation leaves behind a legacy of service to humanity and may ease the financial burden of a funeral on surviving family members.
The Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University belongs to a consortium of New York medical schools and adheres to all of their professional standards, but our focus is more local. We accept donations from Long Island and New York City so donors can be assured that their gift will go to benefit the medical school in their community.
Please be advised that we are unable to accept body donations from individuals whose cause of death was related to COVID-19.
