Recent News

- With $8.2 million in direct costs, our department ranked #4 among US Anesthesiology Departments in NIH support in 2017!

- CA-3 Resident Dr. Kseniya Khmara's research was featured in an article in Anesthesiology News.

- Dr. Joshua Dubnau was awarded $3,592,892 from the National Institute on Aging for his project, “A Systems Approach to Uncover Upstream Activators and Common Downstream Pathways of Neurodegeneration in a Drosophila Model.”

- Dr. Grigori Enikolopov was awarded $3,201,552 from the National Institute on Aging for his project, “Nitric oxide-mediated changes in glymphatic and CSF systems in aging and Alzheimer’s disease.”

- Dr. Srinivas Pentyala was awarded a grant from the Applied Research & Development Program on "Synthetic Osteogenic Peptide for Treatment of Osteoporosis".

- CA-1 Resident Leif Ericksen was the lead author of the monograph “Enhanced Surgical Recovery: From Principles to Standard of Care” featured in the latest issue of Anesthesiology News

- Three of our CA-3 Residents, Drs. Adrian Fischl, Richard Thalappillil and Ethan Kim have matched for Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowships for 2018-2019.

- Six of our current residents are authors on recently published papers: Dr. Ehab Al-Bizri (CA-1), Dr. Gina Chen and Dr. Ryan Cheung (DA-2), Dr. Duran Mitchell (PGY-1), Dr. Justin Smith (CA-3) and Dr. Demetri Adrahtas (CA-2).

- Dr. Joy Schabel has been elected as an an Associate Member of the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA).

- Dr. T.J. Gan was elected as a Council Member of the Association of Academic Anesthesiology Chairs.
