Dr. Hou’s research career has concentrated on biostatistical methods applied in the health sciences, particularly in genetics and clinical trials.  He has also focused on applying advanced biostatistical methods to various health science research projects on topics ranging from HIV to ocular conditions such as myopia and glaucoma and cancer research.  His methodological research has focused on Statistical Genetics and Clinical Trial Design.  He is also involved with collaborative research providing biostatistical expertise to a variety of projects.  Most recently he has served as the Lead Biostatistician for two large NIH funded multi-center projects- “Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial (COMET)/Collaborative Observational Study of Myopia Progression in COMET Children (COSMICC)”, and the Diabetes and Periodontal Therapy Trial (DPTT).
