The overarching mission of our division is to provide unparalleled health care to our patients and community. We strive to accomplish this by integrating various facets of Stony Brook Medicine to train future nephrologists, engage in cutting-edge research, and directly improve the health of patients with kidney disease.

We provide a comprehensive and expert service for patients with a wide variety of kidney disorders including acute and chronic kidney diseases, diabetic kidney disease, polycystic kidney disease, kidney stones, hypertension, electrolyte disorders and glomerular diseases. Our physicians and staff at the Stony Brook Kidney Center have world-class expertise in managing patients on in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home hemodialysis. Our faculty and staff are committed to working as a team with urology to provide robust support to our kidney transplantation program at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Our fellowship training program serves to train the best nephrologists in the country, with more than 100 graduates from our program. It is our responsibility to educate current and future nephrologists, and we consider it a priority that our educational programs are the best in the country. Our trainees are exposed to a high volume and wide variety of clinical cases and work alongside our faculty to address the overarching mission of our division. Furthermore, our partnership with Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center provides a unique experience for our trainees in improving the health of veterans with kidney disease.
