FUNctional MORphology Group |
Welcome to the Official Webpage of the Stony Brook University Functional Morphology Group (FUNMORG).
FUNMORG is a joint venture of the Interdepartmental Doctoral Program in Anthropological Sciences and the Department of Anatomical Sciences. Our purpose is to bring together students and faculty in the biological and applied sciences to explore the world of functional morphology. We discuss a variety of topics that relate to the way in which anatomical structures may function. This includes, but is not limited to, evolution, biomechanics and ecological adaptation.
We meet on a weekly basis to review and critique new and forthcoming articles relating to functional morphology. Each week, one of our members chooses an article and leads discussion.
In addition to our weekly discussions, we engage researchers from other institutions to come and give lectures at Stony Brook (attendance is open to the campus community).
Congratulations to the Functional Morphology Group, the 2005-2006 winner of a Campus Life Award for Best Educational Programming at Stony Brook University!
