The School of Medicine has partnered with Stony Brook University Hospital to become Stony Brook University Medical Center, a collaboration designed to foster research-based, state of the art patient care, exceptional medical education, basic and clinical research, and community service. The School is located on the North Shore of Long Island and is part of a University with exceptional strength in the health professions, sciences, mathematics, humanities, fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, and engineering. These efforts are furthered by collaboration with colleagues at the biology and medical departments of the Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and other research institutions in the vicinity. In the clinical departments, these objectives are enhanced by collaboration with the clinical affiliates of the Nassau University Medical Center, Winthrop University Hospital, the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and various community clinical facilities integrated under a variety of arrangements. |
