The Department of Ophthalmology at University Hospital at Stony Brook is a fully integrated multi-specialty ophthalmic group offering a wide range of ophthalmic services. We are committed to providing the highest quality care for patients with all types of eye diseases and visual problems. We strive to educate and advise patients about their specific eye problems; to communicate with the referring health care providers in order to provide timely, well coordinated care; and to treat our patients with efficiency, respect and compassion.

The Stony Brook Ophthalmology residency is based at University Medical Center at Stony Brook - the only medical school and tertiary care facility on Long Island, serving a population of more than 2.8 million. Located 15 miles from the parent institution, the Northport VA hospital, as the only affiliate, is a 650 bed facility with 350,000 patient visits a year. There are more than 35,000 combined outpatient visits to the eye services at both institutions from the surrounding communities in Nassau and Suffolk County.
