Meet Our Residents

AErney
Alexandra Erney, PharmD

Hi everyone my name is Alexandra Erney! I grew up in Maine, NY a small town near Binghamton. I have lived in Rochester, NY the last several years where I attended the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St John Fisher University.

I am so excited to explore all the opportunities Stony Brook has to offer for the next year! I look forward to working with the amazing preceptors and exploring my clinical interests. My main areas of interest include critical care and pediatrics.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, boating in the 1000 Islands, and skiing. Last year I was able to travel during my off block and visited 7 different countries. Also, a fun fact about me is that I helped start the Fisher Alpine Ski Team while I was an undergrad and I started ski racing when I was in 5th grade.

AKaur
Avleen Kaur, PharmD

My name is Avleen Kaur. I was born in a small village in Punjab, India and moved to the United States at the age of 10. Since 2010, I have been residing in East Elmhurst, Queens with my family. I graduated from St. John’s University, College of Pharmacy in May 2023. I am excited to begin a new chapter of my life at Stony Brook University Hospital and look forward to taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the program. I am looking forward to work collaboratively and learn from the multidisciplinary teams of Stony Brook. My clinical interests lie in inpatient or ambulatory psychiatry and advanced diabetes management care and wish to obtain my board certification. I am also very passionate about cardiology and critical care. The program provides exposure to numerous areas of my interest and will cultivate my skills to become a well-rounded pharmacist. I believe that the training offered by the residency program will nurture my career goals. For fun, I love to travel with my family. I spend most of my leisure time watching TV and playing volleyball.

LKowalsky
Leah Kowalsky, PharmD

My name is Leah Kowalsky and I am originally from Dix Hills, New York on Long Island. I graduated from Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and also attended Binghamton University for my undergraduate Bachelors in Chemistry. Being at Stony Brook, I am most excited about all the opportunities to constantly learn from and collaborate with the pharmacists and other health care professionals. One fun fact about me is that I have a twin sister, who is a nurse. In my free time, I like to play golf and watch TV and movies. As of now, my clinical interests are internal medicine and cardiology, but I am open to them evolving throughout my experience in residency.

ZPociecha

Zuzanna Pociecha, PharmD

Hello everyone! My name is Zuzanna Pociecha. I am originally from Poland but was raised in Rome, NY. I attended the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY and was co-captain of the women's tennis team during my time there.

I am very excited to be a new pharmacist at a large academic medical center. Being a "team player", I look forward to playing my role on various interdisciplinary teams at Stony Brook. My clinical areas of interest are infectious diseases and pediatrics, but I look forward to staying curious in other clinical areas that I have yet to experience.

My hobbies include watching/playing tennis, hiking in the ADKs, skiing, boating, and jet skiing—practically anything outdoors! I also love trying fancy foods and desserts while visiting new places.
