Undergraduate Student

Deborah KimDeborah Kim is an undergraduate student seeking a BS in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and she is a recipient of the MARC Fellowship. In 2010, she participated in BioPREP summer program where she researched Staphylococcus epidermidis Esp effect in Staphylococcus aureus biofilm, which she presented at ABCRMS. She was introduced to Dr. Cao’s lab after BioPREP and continued research in characterizing the promoter of KIAA1199 until the following summer under the guidance of Cem Kuscu. She would like to continue research at the graduate level and ultimately pursue a PhD. Deborah is currently working on determining the influence of the B-domain in MMP14, the effect of miRNA-128 in cancer cells and the role of glycosylation in KIAA1199.
