Educational Curriculum

Fellows’ education is a top priority of our program.  Our enhanced educational curriculum includes:

July “Bootcamp”

 A comprehensive week-long faculty led educational series for incoming fellows covering introductory lessons on blood smear interpretation, flow cytometry, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, clinical pharmacology (covering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and CAR-T cell therapy), hematologic malignancies (i.e., leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma) and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; hematologic and oncologic emergencies; consultative hematology and oncology; pain management for the seriously ill, advanced directives, communication, and wellness/self-care.

Weekly Academic Half-Day

Weekly Research Seminar

·       Hosted by faculty at the NPT VAMC

Weekly Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards

·     Fellows are encouraged to attend at least 2 dedicated tumor boards per week in leukemia and lymphoma, breast cancer, upper GI cancers, colorectal cancers, lung cancer, melanoma, sarcoma, genitourinary cancers, head and neck cancers (including thyroid) and gynecologic cancers.
